Brief Description
The Young Khalifah Programme is a 4-year weekly Islamic education programme catered for youths between the ages of 13 and 20. It conducts classes, workshops and camps focused on teaching the fundamentals of Islamic knowledge, instilling of positive values and equipping the youths with strong guiding principles which would enable them to practice Islam confidently in their daily lives.
This programme is jointly-organised by Safinah and FMSA (The Fellowship of Muslim Students Association). It has been running for 5 consecutive years, since 2007. InsyaAllah, it will be in its 6th successive year of operation come 2012.
Fee: $55 per month
Inclusive of weekly notes and classroom activity materials.
New Features!
Modular Syllabus: The programme will be introducing a new concept of learning the subjects on a modular basis, with each subject stretching the span of approximately 7 to 9 weeks per year.
Learning Visits: Each class will have at least one outdoor learning session per year. *An additional $5 fee will be included if there is a need for transportation to be provided.
Value-Add Workshops: Nearing or during the period of their examinations, we will lighten the weight of the content which they will be learning and will also minimise the number of weeks they will have to come by introducing value-added workshops.
These workshops will cover topics on specific Islamic subjects such as, Faraidh (Islamic Inheritance), Astronomy and others. It may also include more general self-improvement topics such as creative thinking skills, effective studying techniques, and public speaking, all embedded with a pinch of Islamic values.
Holiday Camps: These camps were one of FMSA’s signature programmes in the past. The camps will not only educate the youths on exemplary values and good conduct, but they will also help build positive relationships, trust in Allah and resilience in their character.
We have been receiving feedback from many students as well as some parents regarding the camp throughout this year. InsyaAllah, in 2012, we’ll be bringing them back during the June as well as the Dec holiday periods. These camps will be open to non-YKP students who are within the same age range.
*The fee for each holiday camp will be $150 per student. YKP students pay only $30 for each 3-day camp. Notes, props, materials and meals will be provided for in full throughout the period of these camps.
